Over the past decades, the number of patients with dry eye disease (DED) has increased dramatically. The incidence of DED is higher in Asia than in Europe and North America, suggesting the involvement of cultural or racial factors in DED etiology. Although many definitions of DED have been used, discrepancies exist between the various definitions of dry eye disease (DED) used across the globe. This article presents a clinical consensus on the definition of DED, as formulated in four meetings with global DED experts. The proposed new definition is as follows: “Dry eye is a multifactorial disease characterized by a persistently unstable and/or deficient tear film (TF) causing discomfort and/or visual impairment, accompanied by variable degrees of ocular surface epitheliopathy, inflammation and neurosensory abnormalities.” The key criteria for the diagnosis of DED are unstable TF, inflammation, ocular discomfort and visual impairment. This definition also recommends the assessment of ocular surface epitheliopathy and neurosensory abnormalities in each patient with suspected DED. It is easily applicable in clinical practice and should help practitioners diagnose DED consistently. This consensus definition of DED should also help to guide research and clinical trials that, to date, have been hampered by the lack of an established surrogate endpoint.  相似文献

Cystoseira hakodatensis is an unutilised brown algae belonging to family Sargassaceae. A crude methanol extract from the algae showed inhibitory effects on the growths of Bacillus cereus and Bacillus licheniformis. To isolate the major antimicrobial agent, a sequential active‐guided isolation procedure was applied: liquid–liquid extraction, column chromatography and bio‐autography. A marked antimicrobial agent (active α) was isolated in hydrophobic fraction and was determined to phenolics without carbohydrates and proteins by phytochemical test. Regarding the antimicrobial potential, the isolated active α showed better inhibitory effects against B. cereus and B. licheniformis at 2 and 4 times of lower concentrations (62.5 and 31.3 μg mL?1) in comparison with epigallocatechin gallate. These results showed that C. hakodatensis is a potential source of antimicrobial agent capable of preventing the growth of the two bacteria.  相似文献

To make a Mn2+-doped red glass phosphor that can be excited with ultraviolet (UV) light of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), 60P2O5-35ZnO-5Al2O3-8MnO-xCu2O glasses (x = 0-1.00) were prepared by a melt-quenching method at 1200-1400°C for 30-180 minutes in atmospheric air, and the redox of Mn and Cu as well as fluorescence properties were investigated. The Mn2+ ion was not reduced and oxidized in the melting, quenching, and annealing processes. The valence of Cu in the glasses changed in the order of 0, 1+, and 2+ with the increase in the amount of Cu2O and in the melting temperature and time. In this study, a 60P2O5-35ZnO-5Al2O3-8MnO-0.10Cu2O glass melted at 1250°C for 90 minutes, having the highest Cu+ concentration, showed the strongest Mn2+ red fluorescence under the UV light at 275 nm. This strong Mn2+ red fluorescence has been caused by the energy transfer from excited Cu+ ions to Mn2+ ions.  相似文献

A method is described to characterize the uniformity of interlaminar fracture toughness of laminated carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites fabricated by the modified vacuum assisted resin transfer molding process. To prepare specimens for Mode I fracture toughness tests, pieces were sectioned from the inlet and vent regions of a CFRP plate ([+30/-30]6), with a starter crack inserted. The specimens were packed between two rectangular epoxy plates to apply a load using a universal testing machine. Acoustic energy signals were monitored using two sensors attached to the epoxy plates during tensile loading. The difference between the material properties of specimens from the inlet and vent regions of the CFRP plate were statistically compared using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA); we show that the specimens showed no statistically significant differences in the interlaminar fracture characteristics depending on the part of the mold from which they were taken.  相似文献

This paper describes a novel method to estimate appropriate traversable regions from an outdoor scene image. The traversable regions output by the proposed method reflect the common sense of people. For example, a candidate traversable region is “a paved road somewhat distant from the side ditch.” The input to the traversable region estimation is one color image. First, category is assigned to each pixel in the image. The categorization result is then input to the region estimator. Finally, the traversable region are estimated on the input image. An important aspect of this method is the application of two score functions in region estimation process. One score function places high value on categories selected as traversable paths by subjects. The other function places high value on categories that are not selected as traversable regions but are adjacent to categories with traversable paths. A combination of these two functions produces feasible estimation results. The effectiveness of the combined score functions was evaluated by experiments and a questionnaire.  相似文献

The determination of the kokumi peptide, γ-glutamyl-valyl-glycine (γ-Glu-Val-Gly) in raw scallop and processed scallop products was carried out using high pressure liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The detection of γ-Glu-Val-Gly was achieved using a multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) method. The optimised condition enabled the precise determination of γ-Glu-Val-Gly. Raw scallop contained 0.08 μg/g γ-Glu-Val-Gly, and the γ-Glu-Val-Gly levels in processed scallop products, such as dried-scallop and scallop extract, were measured to be 0.64 and 0.77 μg/g, respectively. This is the first report to confirm the existence of γ-Glu-Val-Gly in foodstuff.  相似文献

Many researches have studied the micro tools either by simulations or experiments showing that the micro tools play very important roles in micro/nano machining, and micro tool geometries have a direct impact on the final machining quality. Commercially available micro milling tools are usually simply made from downsizing of macro milling tools, which may not be able to be accurately fabricated. Custom micro milling tools have been created by some researchers, but no design criteria for micro milling tools have been introduced. The above factors constrain the development of effective micro milling tools and consequently constrain the researches on micro/nano milling. Based on former researcher??s work, this paper tries to introduce the design criteria for the custom micro tooling. Firstly, the extent typical micro milling tools are studied, and their drawback/limitations are summarized. Secondly, experimental evaluations of the key drawback/limitations are processed. Thirdly, the design criteria for custom micro milling tools are proposed, and corresponding design process is introduced. Then, a new micro hexagonal end mill has been designed based on these criteria. Finally, a polycrystalline diamond micro hexagonal end mill with a diameter of 0.5?mm was fabricated by wire electrical discharge machining, and the evaluation experiments for the hexagonal end mill have been processed on a nano milling center. Experimental results show the newly designed hexagonal end mill can achieve submicron level surface roughness and has simultaneously high-accuracy side and bottom machining capabilities.  相似文献

The vinyltrimethoxysilane‐grafted ethylene‐propylene copolymer/trifunctional methoxysilane (EPR‐g‐VTMS/RTMS) composites were prepared via in situ silica sol–gel reactions. Five trifunctional methoxysilane compounds (n‐hexyltrimethoxysilane, n‐decyltrimethoxysilane, n‐tetradecyltrimethoxysilane, n‐octadecyltrimethoxysilane, and phenyltrimethoxysilane) have been selected for this study. The water‐cross‐linked EPR‐g‐VTMS/RTMS composites were characterized by attenuated total reflectance‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gel content, solid‐state 29Si CP/MAS NMR, wide‐angle x‐ray scattering, tensile strength, and field emission scanning electron microscopy measurements. The type of RTMS additive has a substantial influence on the nature of siloxane band networks and eventually the mechanical tensile properties. This finding suggests that the interaction and/or entanglement between the EPR‐g‐VTMS matrix and the substituent of the RTMS additives are crucial for the modifying mechanical properties. Moreover, for the water‐cross‐linked EPR‐g‐VTMS/CnTMS (n = 6, 10, 14, and 18) composites, the joint evidence provided by attenuated total reflectance‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 29Si CP/MAS NMR, and wide‐angle x‐ray scattering results suggested the formation of ladder‐type poly(n‐alkyl silsesquioxane)s and the presence of the highly ordered structure with a thickness equal to the length of two n‐alkyl groups in all‐trans conformation. We have investigated the influence of sodium (Na) on the properties of co‐evaporated Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) layer microstructures and solar cells. The photovoltaic performance and diode properties were improved by incorporating Na from NaF layers into the CZTS layers, while Na had a negligible effect on the microstructural properties of the layer. The best cell fabricated by using an optimal CZTS layer (Cu/(Zn + Sn) = 0.70, Zn/Sn = 1.8) yielded an active area efficiency of 5.23%. The analysis of device properties suggests that charge‐carrier recombination at CZTS/CdS interface is suppressed by intentional Na incorporation from NaF layers.
